Brian Tagalog is an American tattoo artist. While being a tattoo artist is interesting on its own, Brian is unique among tattoo artists for a very obvious reason: he doesn't have any arms. _(1)_ Brian's mother Angie was extremely upset to know that her son was born disabled. _(2)_ However, she never believed her son was anything less than what she was, and she always encouraged him to pursue his dreams. _(3)_ However, Brian grew up using his feet for everything from driving a car to drawing, so he knew he could accomplish whatever he wanted. He had always been interested in art, so about 11 years ago, Brian got certified as a tattoo artist. Though difficult, this would prove to be the easiest part of his journey. _(4)_ Instead of being discouraged, he decided to make it on his own. Brian opened his own store called Tattoos by Foot in Tucson, Arizona. He developed his technique, which is similar to that used by other tattoo artists with their hands, except Brian's version uses his feet. His process involves drawing a sketch▼ on a piece of paper, transferring it to his client's skin, and then tracing and filling in the pattern with a tattoo gun. _(5)_ As the first armless tattoo artist, and a good one, Brian is now getting a lot of attention online and from the media, proving that dreams do come true. (A) The whole process is less traumatic, and patients are often able to return to work the day after an operation. (B) He was born this way, so from the very beginning, Brian had incredible challenges ahead. (C) When Brian decided to become a tattoo artist, everyone knew he had chosen a difficult path. (D) For years, Brian applied for jobs at tattoo parlors without ever getting hired. (E) He accomplishes all this with his feet, on which he wears surgical gloves to prevent infection. (F) She cried every day for a year knowing how much more difficult life would be for her son. |
