Officially the United Mexican States, Mexico is one of the world's largest countries by both area and population. Home to over 100 million people, Mexico claims a unique heritage spanning a broad number of influences that range from the ancient Mayan and Aztec to colonial French and even African. Nowadays, the population is mostly Mestizo — an Indian–Spanish mixed ethnicity — or Indian. Although over 50 indigenous dialects are still spoken nationwide, Mexico is the most densely populated Spanish-speaking country in the world.
